Rendez-vous du futur / Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt CANCELLED
Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, one of the most read and portrayed French authors in the world, a playwright passionate about music and a successful film director, is the guest for this edition of Rendez-vous du Futur.
A graduate of the Ecole Normale Supérieure, holder of an Agrégé in philosophy and a Doctor, Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt first gained fame in theatres with Le Visiteur, an unlikely meeting between Freud and possibly God, which has become a classic of international repertoires. This was followed by numerous plays including Mr Ibrahim and the Flowers of the Koran and Petits Crimes Entre Amis which sparked new public interest and critical acclaim. Some of his works have been adapted in other countries and made into films. In 2007, the film Odette Toutlemonde came out, which he adapted himself from his own novellas. In 2009, he adapted and filmed Oscar and the Lady in Pink. A lover of music, Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt also put his name to the French translations of The Marriage of Figaro and Don Giovanni. Ever the adventurer in literary fields, and rewarded many a time, Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt and his optimistic world promote an image of a popular writer who is heavily involved in the French cultural scene.
