GROUND FLOOR “FANTÔME(S)” BY VINCENT LÉVY
Behavioural video installation, 2005, France

Fantôme(s) (or Ghost(s)) acts as a mirror which needs 'time for reflection’ before sending back the image of the spectator; sometimes it even decides to display an image of someone else! This live image only appears on the screen progressively and is layered over ghostly silhouettes, portraits of other visitors who came before or persons linked to the artist’s past.
Production : Le Cube

GROUND FLOOR / ENTRANCE HALL, “NEW ANGLES” BY SUPER NATURE
Interactive design installation, 2011, China / French preview

New Angles is an interactive light installation from the Super Nature design studio, based in Shanghai. The object has a crystallised surface which sparkles and flickers in a multitude of colours. Each facet acts as a giant pixel, displaying an image or special effects by coordinating their light patterns. The installation creates a visual dialogue with the viewer, mimicking and reflecting his actions, like a ghostly silhouette in bright colours. Production: Super Nature Design

2ND FLOOR / ENTRANCE TO “VORONOÏ” BY DANIEL SHIFFMAN

Interactive installation, 2008, United States

This work is a tribute to the Voronoi Diagram, named after its inventor, the Russian mathematician Georgi Voronoï. The Voronoi Diagram is a tessellation (a repetitive pattern of plane shapes that covers the plane with no overlaps or gaps) generated in two dimensional spaces where each surface contains all the points which are closest to a given point in that space. It uses software which constantly calculates a colourful Voronoi Diagram, depending on the pixels seen by a video camera. The surfaces change shapes and move around according to the changes in images filmed by the camera. The longer the viewer remains still, the more his reflected image will be precise. Production: Daniel Shiffman

2ND FLOOR / CORRIDOR, "PIXEL NOIR" BY ANTOINE SCHMITT

Generative artwork, 2010, France

In Pixel Noir, a moving shape composed of video-projected white pixels swarms over the surface of the wall. The pixels are compulsively drawn to a black square mounted on the wall, without ever being able to enter it. The generative choreography which guides these pixels is built on a language of psychological and physical forces. With its light pixels bumping up against physical matter and its direct reference to The Black Square by Kasimir Malevitch, this work is a testament to the relationship between programmed art shows and Art History. Production: Antoine Schmitt

2ND FLOOR / CORRIDOR, “VERTICALES” BY HUGO VERLINDE
Generative artwork, 2011, France

The Verticales exhibit evokes the shape of the sun, our sun, before it became a sun. Our star was born out of a vast solar nebula. Millions of years were needed to stabilise this nebula. Until then, there was nothing but movement, agitation, instability and continuous nuclear reactions. Verticales allows us to see the face of the sun at the moment of its creation. Production: Le Cube

FROM THE GROUND FLOOR TO THE EXHIBITION AREAS /
"L’ANTHOLOGUE" BY ISABELLE DELATOUCHE

Situational literature installation , Living Art, 2011, France

L'Anthologue is a living anthology which enters a given space: public transport, buildings, gardens, etc. It is presented in the form of QR codes placed in key locations, giving access via smartphones to specific texts depending on the place and time of the day or week. In this way, visitors finds themselves confronted with a text chosen by L'Anthologue: a reading suggestion which has meaning for them "here and now".
The texts are taken from contemporary French-language literature.
